In 2007, Helping Hands partnered with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and contributed $122,000 to pay the family`s mortgage costs.  The recipients of the gift were Jesus and Michelle Jacobo, an extended family of 12.  The house was built in Kansas City, Kansas and provided enough room to accommodate their specific needs.  The house blessed the family with individual bedrooms for each member of the family, which was an entirely new experience.

Also, with the installment of a large dining room table, the Jacobos` could now enjoy their first family meal together.  The family found themselves adapting to a new life, as the house represented a renewed sense of hope.  Along with hope, the house brought many changes, one such change occurred when Michelle Jacobo, mother and wife, found herself relearning the sound of each child`s footsteps on the new flooring.  These changes, although small and usually taken for granted, meant a great deal to the family.

Michelle Jacobo, recently said, "When I walked into my house for the first time, I felt so much love in it.  It gives us the strength and courage to go on.  This is a huge blessing for us.  The family now can afford slightly higher utility bills and other costs.

The blessings continued to pour in and dreams became a reality.  Their oldest daughter is now attending college through a generous scholarship donation.  Also, a son of the family has new dreams of pursing architecture as a result of the monumental and inspiring experience with Home Makeover.
